Dillsburg Magnetite Mines Program

Join Jeri Jones of Jones Geological Services at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 14, 2026 at the Carroll Township Municipal Building for a program on the location and history of the Dillsburg Magnetite mines.  Jeri, using a PowerPoint program, will talk about the history, their extent both on the surface and underground and the role these mines played in the local history.  The Dillsburg Magnetite District was the largest mining area in York County where 1.2 million tons of iron ore was removed between 1828 and 1912.  There will be a question and answer session following the program.
