WHAT IS THE PROGRAM?

The litter disposal program is an opportunity for community organizations to collect and dispose of roadside litter at the York County Resource Recovery Center (RRC) at no cost to the group. Organizations must pre-register for the event by calling the York County Solid Waste Authority at (717) 845-1066.  Applicants will be asked to provide information regarding the type of organization, contact person, phone, address, date and location of clean-up and date of litter delivery to the RRC.  Once registered, groups will receive guidelines for participation and a vehicle dashboard placard that will enable them to enter the RRC to deliver litter.  The litter disposal program is a great way for community and civic groups to participate in an event that honors our planet and cleans up our community.

Residential Electronics Recycling Program

Pennsylvania’s “Covered Device Recycling Act” (Act 108) prohibits the acceptance of “covered devices” including televisions, desktop and laptop computers, computer monitors and computer peripherals at all Pennsylvania solid waste disposal facilities and also prohibits residents from placing them at the curb for waste pick-up. As of January 24, 2013 these devices will not be accepted at the York County Resource Recover Center.

The York County Solid Waste Authority will accept electronics which originated from York County residences only at the Small Load Drop-off Facility Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 4 PM and Saturdays 8 AM to noon.

Penn and Fairview Townships are conducting satellite electronics recycling programs at their municipal sites. All York County residents are welcome to participate.  Both Penn and Fairview Townships offer weekday and Saturday collections.  Residents should call or visit their websites for exact days and times.

York County businesses, organizations and schools that wish to recycle electronic devices may contact electronics recycling vendors directly.  A list of recycling vendors is also located on our website at: www.ycswa.com.
